The Katsina State Police Command, has announced that it repelled an attack on Wapa village in Kurfi LGA of the state and succeeded in killing many terrorists while rescuing two kidnapped victims.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Gambo Isah, made this known in a press statement issued on Friday morning.
According to the statement, the hoodlums, no fewer than 24, armed with AK-47 rifles attacked the community, shooting sporadically at about 1:00 am on Friday and abducted two persons in the process.
Gambo gave the identity of the two persons abducted as Alhaji Aminu Wapa and Wada Sale, both of Wapa village, Kurfi LGA of the state.
However, the Katsina Police Command Spokesman noted that due to the swift response to the distress call, the police tactical team was able to rescue the kidnapped victims, disclosing that many of the terrorists were feared killed in the foiled attack.
In the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Idrisu Dabban Dauda, appreciated the efforts of the personnel in repelling the terrorists, and urged members of the public to continue to cooperate with security agencies in the ongoing campaign against terrorists in the state.
