Shi’ite vs Police Clash: FCT Command Shares Video, Says ‘We Will Haunt Your Killers’

Federal Capital Territory Police Command, on Monday, shared the video of the clash between its personnel and the Shi’ite group in Abuja.

Raye24reporters reported that Shi’ites and FCT Police Command engaged in a clash that led to the death of some policemen and Shi’ite members.

While FCT Commissioner of Police, Benedict Igwe, alleged that Shi’ite killed some of its personnel, Shi’ite alleged that the Police attacked its members engaging in a peaceful procession leading to the death of some of the members of the religious sect.

“They opened fire with live ammunition, I was there, and everybody started running. So, I am not aware of all these allegations they are saying that our people killed police. How? Were we armed? We were not armed. We were only carrying placards. Is a placard a weapon? If the people knew that we were armed, they would not face us,” the leader of Shi’ite procession group, Abdullahi Musa, said.

The FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, in a statement on Monday, alleged that the attack on personnel of the command was unprovoked.

SP Adeh, who shared the video, on her X handle, said the command would continue to hunt the Shi’ite members alleged to have attacked its personnel.

“I’m saddened by the unprovoked attack and brutal killing of our officers by this proscribed, heartless individual called Shi’ite members. This heinous act is unacceptable. Those responsible must face the wrath of the law. Restwell our gallant officers. We’ll haunt your killers,” Adeh said.
