Suspect Who Killed Two Year Old During NDLEA Raid is in Custody – Police

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the suspect responsible for the killing of a two-year-old boy, Ivan Omhonrina, two weeks ago.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, on Tuesday told journalists in Asaba, the state capital, that the suspect was already in custody.

Recall that Omhonrina was killed by a stray bullet during an operation by officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Okpanam in the Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The NDLEA had said the incident occurred when its men were raiding a drug joint in the area. A development which caused a stir among Nigerians who demanded justice for the toddler.

President Bola Tinubu had also called for an investigation to fish out the killer of the child.

However, it was learned that even though the police have not disclosed his identity, the Delta police confirmed he is in custody.

Edafe said, “The suspect who allegedly killed the two-year-old boy a few weeks ago is in our custody. The investigation is almost completed, and he will be charged to court.”
