Terrorists, Bandits Are Now on The Run – Magashi

Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd), the Minister of Defence, says Boko Haram terrorists and bandits are now on the run from the Nigerian military.

Speaking at a joint press briefing held in Abuja on Monday, Magashi said the Federal Government will not relent until terrorists and bandits have been crushed.

Magashi, who was joined at the briefing by three other ministers, Lai Mohammed
(Information and Culture); Rauf Aregbesola (Interior) and Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi (Police Affairs), Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Leo Irabor, said the military and other security agencies have been able to contain the daunting security challenges facing the country.

The minister tasked Nigerians to alert security agents if they observe any criminal activities in their community, stating that security is the business of everyone.

He said: “We have now put the terrorists, bandits and their like on the run and we will not relent until they have been crushed.

“We must also realize that security is the business of everyone, hence the tagline ‘if you see something, say something.

“Terrorists or bandits are not spirits. They are human beings, and some of them reside in our communities. They must all be exposed and crushed for peace to reign.”

He commended the various security agencies such as the military, police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Immigration, Customs, Nigerian Correctional Service, and intelligence agencies, among others, for their sacrifice and patriotism.
