Those Involved in Kuje Prison Attack has been Identified – Aregbesola

Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior, has said that a preliminary report of the investigation into the attack on the Kuje Medium Correctional Centre has been sent to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recall that terrorists had, on July 5th, successfully attacked the Kuje Medium Correctional Centre freeing over 500 inmates and 64 Boko Haram members.

ISWAP had, in a video posted online days after the incident, claimed responsibility for the attack that left a security agent dead.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday after a meeting of the National Security Council, Aregbesola said the report identifies all those whose action or inaction led to that unfortunate incident, and such officials will be punished.

He, however, noted that intelligence agencies made sufficient efforts to prevent the attack on the prison, but there was a problem with the will to carry out instructions by security operatives

Aregbesola said: “A preliminary report on what happened in Kuje has been sent to the President, but a more detailed comprehensive report will come at the end of the investigation.

“We have identified all those whose action or inaction led to that unfortunate incident, and those who have sacked their responsibility will have to face the consequences of their action”
