Tinubu is Not Giving Nigerians Bad Governance – Tunji-Ojo

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has said President Bola Tinubu is not giving Nigerians bad governance.

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo said the planners of hunger protest tagged “EndbadgovernanceinNigeria” failed to understand what bad governance is.

He said the hunger protest and its organizers are not properly directed.

The Minister of Interior said this after Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided by President Tinubu on Monday.

He argued that the President has been touching every nerve and all points that needed attention for ensure the country works.

He said the fuel subsidy removal and student loan are policies for Nigeria’s development.

“This government is touching every nerve, is touching all the points, doting all the ‘i’s and crossing all the ‘t’s. So we believe this is not bad governance. So the issue of protest against bad governance is actually to me not properly directed, because this is not bad governance. If issue of subsidy removal, if issue of student loan, is something that has to do with bad governance, then I don’t know what good governance is,” Tunji-Ojo said.

Raye24reporters reported that the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, after the FEC meeting advised organizers of hunger protest to shelve the plan.

Mohammed Idris said President Tinubu was already protesting for Nigerians by addressing needs of the people.

Idris said, “The president has listened to the voices of all those who are planning this protest and the message is that there is no need for it. Indeed, the president is already protesting on their behalf by doing those things that they want government to do.

For example, the effort that the government is making in ensuring that food is being made available. In the last council meeting here, we announced that a number of trucks, 20 precisely have been given to state governors for onward distribution to those who are actually in need of them.

“Were you are planning to protest, government is appealing to you, first to shelve it because there is a great likelihood that this protest may be hijacked, may turn violent by unscrupulous elements and Nigeria will not be good for it.

“Of course, people are saying there is no intention of violence in this but our history has shown that there is possibility that this protest can be hijacked and could turn violent.”
