Tinubu’s Wife, Remi Under Fire As Video Where She Vowed To Chase The Igbos Out Of Lagos Circulates Online

Remi Tinubu, the wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is currently under fire following the resurfacing of a video where she ‘subtly’ spoke ill of the Igbo tribe who base in Lagos State.

In the video, Remi was quoted as saying that she will ‘invoke Lagos deities to chase away the Igbos who refused to learn the Yoruba language and will inherit the belongings of those who insisted not to marry the Yorubas”.

Though many have defended the wife of the former Lagos State Governor, saying that she was joking in the video, a handful of commenters have continued to criticize her.

In her words: “We will invoke Lagos deities to chase away the Igbos who refused to learn our language. Those that insisted not to marry the Yorubas, we will inherit their belongings.”

The video was shared and transcribed by one @Emmaikumeh on Twitter.

The hate that Remi Tinubu has for the Igbos is beyond words. This is so shameful

Notwithstanding, many have used the video to discredit her husband, Tinubu’s presidential ambition.

Reacting to the video @Nwafresh wrote: “Ya’all Igbos in Lagos should pray that the vote you’re giving Peter Obi takes him to Aso Rock and not reducing the chances of Atiku, thereby making Tinubu the President. Just pray we the Igbos don’t become the architect of our own problem due to political illiteracy.”

@Taron: “If that’s what she said, she got it wrong cos Igbo ladies are wedding Yoruba guys at alarming rates (both in Lagos & across the world). I’m neither Igbo nor Yoruba; I don’t live in Lagos but I’ve noticed this trend for years. It has made we (non Yoruba guys) really jealous..”
