Troops destroy bandits’ hideouts in Taraba, rescue kidnap victims.

The joint forces of 114 Battalion (Rear) of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, alongside other security units, have eradicated multiple bandit hideouts in Taraba State.

The Acting Assistant Director, 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde, in a statement issued to journalists in Jalingo, the state capital on Sunday, said the operation resulted in the rescue of four kidnapped individuals.

He said the mission initiated on February 2, 2024 was aimed at restoring peace in the Yorro Local Government Area and its surroundings.

He said the troops engaged bandits at Gampu hills and Ban Yorro area, employing superior firepower that forced the criminals to abandon their hideouts, leaving behind the previously abducted victims.

Olubodunde said the ongoing operation seeks to locate and reunite other individuals who fled during the exchange of fire.

Among those successfully rescued are Genesis M Samuel (24) from Ganku village, Benard Denis (28) from Fulfualgon village, Esther Titus (35) from Kosanai village, and Isma’il Umar (25), the son of the Emir of Pupulle, abducted from his residence on January 18, 2024.

Emphasizing the commitment to citizens’ safety, he said the Brigade would continue its efforts to dismantle criminal infrastructure in Taraba State.

He urged the public to support the military by providing credible and timely information on suspicious activities.
