UEFA Champions League: Liverpool Secure Win, Napoli Destroyed Ajax as Inconsistent Barcelona Loses to Inter

Liverpool, English Premier League (EPL) side, scored once in each half to overcome Rangers 2-0 in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) group A encounter at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah helped the Reds put behind their domestic troubles to earn consecutive UCL group match victories.

Alexander-Arnold set the tone for an easy evening with a well-struck free kick in seven minutes before Salah, who has been a shadow of his brilliant past, scored from the spot early in the second period following a penalty won by Luiz Diaz.

Liverpool, last season’s UCL finalists, remain second in the group behind Victor Osimhen’s Napoli who continued their perfect group record this season with a 6-1 victory at Ajax Amsterdam.

Calvin Bassey, Super Eagles of Nigeria defender, played the entire game for Ajax.

Elsewhere, Inter Milan provided a gutsy display to overcome resurgent Barcelona 1-0 at the Guiseppe Meazza stadium in Italy.

Hakan Calhanoglu scored the pivotal goal in the first half of added time to make it consecutive UCL victories for Inter Milan while consigning Barcelona to consecutive defeats.
