We Will Win In Court – Oyetola, Drag Adeleke, Before Tribunal

The All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that it will be going to the election petition tribunal to challenge the outcome of the 2022 governorship election in Osun State.

This was disclosed on Thursday by the Chairman of the party in the state, Gboyega Famodun during a press conference held at the party secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital.

Famodun stated that the lawyers of the party and those of its candidate, Governor Gboyega Oyetola believe they have a good case and have concluded plans to approach the tribunal.

According to him, the lawyers have told us that “we have a strong case and we believe we will win at the court.”

Recalls that Oyetola of the APC was defeated in the July 16 governorship election in Osun State by Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It will be recalled that Oyetola in an immediate reaction to the results declared by INEC has on July 17 said the leadership of the APC are still studying the outcome of the governorship election.

The Osun State Governor in a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan said the APC would react after appraising the outcome of the election.

He had refused to congratulate Adeleke but called for peace and calm from his supporters.

meanwhile Adeleke of the PDP gathered 403,371 votes to defeat Oyetola who polled 375,027 votes.

The Chief Returning Officer for INEC, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, declared Adeleke the winner after winning in 17 local government areas against Oyetola’s 13
