The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa State Command, Musa Alhaji Mala (CC), on Monday, 22nd day of August 2022, received the State Chairman, Wheat Farmers Association of Nigeria (WFAN), Jigawa State Chapter, Mustapha Ubayi Ringim.
He was accompanied by the Secretary of the Association, Ibrahim Salihu Ibrahim.
The Chairman was at the Command to meet with the newly deployed State Commandant, to introduce himself, seek for support, cooperation and discuss on how the Command will assist the Association to make recovery of the loan facility given to wheat farmers in the State.
He disclosed to the State Commandant that the association distributed seeds, fertilizers, pump generators, pesticides among others to wheat farmers in 2021 with an agreement to provide in return wheat equivalent to the monetary value of the items supplied to each farmer to the Association after harvest.
But unfortunately, most farmers have not complied to the agreement and as such need intervention of the State Command to facilitate the recovery process.
The State Commandant expressed delight for the visit and promised to assist where necessary.
He however, described the situation as tantamount to breach of contract and sabotage to government policies and programs aimed at improving the standard of living of the citizenry.
He also frowned at those that collected and disposed the items which he says is an act of fraud because it was spelt out in the contract agreement not to sale.
He promised to direct relevant offices in the Command to critically look into the matter with a view to addressing them.
