What You Need to Know About New Chief Justice of Nigeria

Justice Olukayode Ariwoola was born on 22 August 1958.

He is from Oyo State where he started his journey as a Judge in the Oyo State High Court in 1992. He was later promoted to the Court of Appeal.

Justice Ariwoola was elevated to the Supreme Court Bench on November 22, 2011.

He was part of the Supreme Court Justices who delivered the controversial unanimous judgement which confirmed Sen. Hope Uzodinma as the duely elected Governor of Imo State in January 2020.

He is said to be the most senior Justice of Supreme Court after Tanko Muhammad.

He will be serving in acting capacity pending the confirmation of the Senate.
