The National Director of Communications and Programs of African Democratic Congress, Barr. Ifenla Oligbinde, as joined the rest of the world to celebrate women across the globe.
In a statement released in newsmen on Tuesday, the party leader described women as the bedrock of societal development.
“Women given birth to world leaders, kings and all strata great personalities across the globe. It is in the nature of women to birth and nurture what ever as being given to us.”
Barr. Ifenla emphasize how so many women currently serve as the breadwinners of their families.
She mentioned women who are do wonders at global stage such as Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iwela who is currently serving as Director General of World Trade Centre and Hajia Amina Muhammad who is currently serving under the Secretary General of The United Nations as Deputy Secretary.
The Communication expert canvassed for women including in the political process and governance of Nigeria as women remain the game changers for a better and greater Nigeria.
She used the occasion to call on women to contest for political positions as Nigeria prepares for the 2023 general elections.
“As I always say, no body will give up power easily. We must be ready to challenge the status quo and demand our place in politics and governance. If we fail to speak for ourselves, nobody will do it for us. Only women can speak for women effectively and we have the opportunity as we gear towards the 2023 general elections. We can do it and we shall do it,” she admonished.
