A secondary school student, Idris Alex Emeka, 20, has been remanded by a magistrate court for allegedly raping a mentally ill woman on multiple occasions.
The defendant, who attends Capital Government Day Secondary School in Yola, pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him at the Chief Magistrate Court 2 in Yola. The offence contravenes section 260 of the penal code law.
Magistrate Musa Alhaji Adamu, presiding over the case, ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody pending further investigation and trial.
The prosecuting officer, Inspector Galeon Nimrod alleged that Emeka had taken advantage of the woman’s mental state and raped her on three separate occasions. According to the prosecution, Emeka was caught on June 26.
He told the court that one Habu Jibrilla came to Karewa Police Station and reported the matter.
The Inspector stated that Jibrilla who is of the State Low-cost Housing Estate in Jimeta, caught the defendant having sex with his victim on the street by 6:40am and grabbed him before handing him over to the police.
