Labour Party Gubernatorial Candidates Inaugurates Forum

The Forum of Gubernatorial Candidates 2023/2024 of the Labour Party convened in Abuja, has expresses its profound appreciation and commendation for the timely inauguration of it forum.

Hon Ken Pela, while recognising the significant advantages of the forum to the party and the nation at large, noted that the platform will provide collaboration, unity and the advancement of shared ideals, which allows for the exchange of ideas, strategies, and experiences among candidates.

“This camaraderie and mutual support will undoubtedly strengthen the Labour Party in our various States as we move forward”.

However, the Forum has extend its heartfelt congratulations to the Labour Party and the citizens of Edo State for the successful conduct of the gubernatorial primary election.

“We particularly congratulate Barrister Olumide Akpata for emerging as the winner of the primaries and applaud the party’s commitment to a transparent and democratic process, which reflects our core values of fairness and inclusivity.

“We commit to place our collective experience at the disposal of the Edo candidate and work together to ensure the party wins in the state that is regarded as the Capital of the Obidient Movement”.

The Forum vehemently condemns all existing factions and distractors within the Labour Party, with specific reference to the Lamidi Apapa faction. We express our strong disapproval of the divisive activities of these factions, which only serve to undermine the unity and progress of our party.

“We urge all members to rally behind the leadership of the party and to reject any attempts at division. We also reprimand the press for giving undue coverage to the illegal activities of these factions and their members, which can harm the reputation and integrity of the Labour Party.

The Forum has called for the quick and imminent convening of the party congresses at all levels.

“This is pivotal for the total restructuring and repositioning of the Labour Party geared toward 2027, aligning it with contemporary needs and challenges.

“We emphasize the critical importance of this event in rejuvenating our party and ensuring that it remains a formidable force for positive change in Nigeria.

“It is imperative to emphasize the reconciliatory role that members of this Forum play in their respective states as leaders of the party. We are committed to addressing all matters of concern and complaints within the party, with the aim of strengthening its conduct, operations, and integrity. The Forum will actively engage with party members, stakeholders, and the public to build consensus and solidarity. The Forum stands as a beacon of unity and resolve in the face of challenges, dedicated to the advancement of our party’s mission and vision.

The Forum expresses deep concern over the present state of insecurity and economic hardship in Nigeria.

“We decry the high cost of living, soaring prices of goods and services, and the adverse effects these have on our nation and its citizens. We call for urgent and concerted efforts from all stakeholders to address these pressing issues, advocating for policies that promote economic growth, social welfare, and national stability.

“We call on the government at all levels to prioritize the safety and well-being of Nigerians, addressing the root causes of insecurity and implementing sustainable economic policies. It is imperative that we work together to create a nation where every citizen can thrive and contribute to its prosperity”.

Meanwhile, the Forum has reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the ideals of democracy, justice, and progress. We pledge to work tirelessly for the betterment of our party, our states, and our nation as a whole.
