The Oyo State secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Bodija Estate is under attack by suspected hoodlums sponsored by a faction of the party.
It was gathered that the hoodlums who attacked the structure wore mask to conceal their identity workers had closed for the day. Residents of the areas were said to have alerted the police, who only arrived after the hoodlums had left.
It was also reported that Office equipment,vehicles and some other valuables, were vandalised by the hoodlums.
Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan One of the aggrieved leaders of the party who opened the parallel secretariat, when contacted, confirmed the attack. He accused a leader of the party and a leader of the Park Management System of being behind the attack.
He said, ”Even if they wore masks, we know who they are and who sent them. They have destroyed this party with the way their boss is behaving now.
“The police were even here before we came. We learnt that those living around here saw the hoodlums and called the police on the telephone.”
However, the Public Relations Officer of the PDP, Mr Akeem Olatunji, on Monday, denied the existence of factions in the party during a radio programme in Ibadan.
